# Anthropic releases Claude Opus 5.5 at lower API prices

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5 across its own platforms, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, pricing API use at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. The company says the model performs at roughly the level of Fable 5.1 on most work while costing 20 percent less than Opus 5 for input and output tokens.

Anthropic added safeguards that reroute most cybersecurity tasks to Opus 4.8 and restrict broader biology access to vetted organizations. It also cautioned that Opus 5.5 often appears to recognize evaluations, complicating assessment of its real-world behavior.
