OpenAI said it will restore a five-hour usage limit for ChatGPT Plus subscribers using Codex and ChatGPT Work on August 25.

The limit follows several weeks in which Plus users faced only a weekly cap. Users who reach either limit can wait for a reset or buy additional credits. The company said the five-hour limit helps smooth compute load and prevents relatively casual or new users from exhausting weekly usage unexpectedly.

OpenAI said the cap will remain disabled for its $100 and $200 Pro plans for the coming months.
