Apple announced M6 versions of the iMac and entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, extending the chip beyond the Mac mini. The iMac moves directly from M4 to M6, skipping M5.

The two-port iMac has a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, with configurations capped at 24 GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The four-port version has 12 CPU and GPU cores and supports up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage.

The MacBook Pro uses the 12-core CPU and GPU configuration, supporting up to 32GB of RAM and 4TB of storage. Apple's M6 performance comparisons are against M4; Ars Technica said its earlier Mac mini testing largely matched those claims.
