# Snowflake opens Claude Sonnet 5.5 access through Cortex Inference

Snowflake has made Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 5.5 available in public preview through Cortex Inference, letting developers call the model from applications through their Snowflake account endpoint. Snowflake says the arrangement keeps application data within its security and governance controls.

Anthropic reports that Sonnet 5.5 generates output more than 30% faster than Sonnet 5 and scores 70.6% on Terminal-Bench 4.0, compared with 10.3% for Sonnet 5. Support in Snowflake's coding, work-agent and SQL-based AI tools is still forthcoming; the current access is through Cortex Inference.
