# IEEE offers AI research tools as an Xplore subscription upgrade

IEEE has released an AI Research Suite as an optional subscription upgrade for institutional subscribers to its Xplore Digital Library. The tools search the full text of millions of peer-reviewed publications and generate overviews with links to source documents.

Users can search with natural-language questions or longer passages and obtain definitions of technical terms. IEEE says retrieval is limited to its peer-reviewed full-text documents and a curated collection of STEM metadata. The system is designed to tell users when it cannot find relevant scientific content within that collection rather than generate an answer.
