Apple filed a motion asking a federal judge to overturn a $5.7 billion patent verdict involving the Taptic Engine in iPhones and Apple Watches, 9to5Mac reports. Apple argues that Taction Technology did not provide sufficient evidence to establish damages and that its infringement testing assessed electronic controls rather than the hardware characteristics required by the patents.

Apple seeks findings of no infringement and no damages, or alternatively a new trial covering infringement, patent validity and damages. The jury's verdict has not yet been formally entered as a final judgment; the court will consider whether to uphold it, overturn it or order another trial.
