Lam Research broke ground on a $620 million research-and-development lab in Tualatin, Oregon, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting. The 120,000-square-foot facility is part of a plan to spend $1.5 billion on major Washington County R&D laboratories over the next decade and a half. Lam, which designs and builds semiconductor-manufacturing tools, expects the new lab to add about 400 jobs to its roughly 3,000-person Tualatin workforce. The company also plans $3 billion of investment across U.S., Asian and European operations.
