Halfspace demonstrates GPU rendering for experimental solid modelling

Halfspace demonstrates GPU rendering for experimental solid modelling Image: Primary
Developer Matt Keeter has presented Halfspace, an experimental solid-modelling application whose underlying Fidget kernel now runs rasterization and shading entirely on the GPU. Keeter says the change brings native rendering speed to web builds, replacing CPU rendering that had run at non-interactive speeds through WebAssembly. Halfspace lets users build models from predefined shapes and scripts, inspect the fields that define their surfaces, and export images or triangle meshes. It targets both native platforms and the web and is open source under the MPLv2 licence. Keeter warns against using it for critical applications and says he is willing to make substantial architectural changes. Mobile Safari has WebGPU issues, and multitouch navigation is not yet designed.
