Google is upgrading its Search experience with new AI capabilities announced at its I/O event. The company is making Gemini 3.5 Flash the default model in AI Mode for users worldwide. It is also introducing an intelligent Search box reimagined with AI that dynamically expands and supports multiple input modalities. The new Search box is starting to roll out in countries and languages where AI Mode is available. Users can ask follow-up questions from AI Overviews and continue conversations in AI Mode while keeping context. This experience is live on desktop and mobile worldwide. Google is introducing information agents that operate continuously to monitor web sources and provide synthesized updates. The agents will first be available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers this summer. The company is expanding agentic booking capabilities in Search for local experiences and services in the United States this summer. Users can ask Google to call businesses on their behalf in categories including home repair, beauty and pet care. Search will offer custom generative user interfaces and mini apps built with Antigravity and Gemini 3.5 Flash. These generative UI capabilities will be available free to everyone this summer. Personal Intelligence in AI Mode is expanding to nearly 200 countries and territories in 98 languages without requiring a subscription. Users can securely connect services such as Gmail and Google Photos and maintain control over their data.
