Khosla Ventures confirmed it will open its first office outside Menlo Park, on 14th Street in New York, expected this fall, partner Keith Rabois said at TechCrunch's StrictlyVC event Thursday night.

Rabois said the firm has no San Francisco office, calling the move a big step. The outpost will house a handful of investors and an executive briefing center where 10 to 12 portfolio companies at a time meet Fortune 500 firms four days a week.

Rabois said junior talent density in New York is strong but senior engineers and executives remain a challenge.
