Nvidia has open sourced Attribution, software that correlates logs, metrics and scheduler records to identify why distributed AI workloads fail. The company says it has used the software in production for years, analyzing millions of workloads each week across hundreds of thousands of GPUs.

A self-hosted service applies reproducible rules to workload evidence, while a Python reference orchestrator gathers records and returns diagnoses with affected nodes and supporting symptoms. Infrastructure teams can add failure rules and connectors for their own systems. Diagnosis quality depends on the completeness of telemetry, and the software marks cases as ambiguous when multiple causes fit.
