Ripple receives final approval for US national trust bank

Ripple receives final approval for US national trust bank Image: Primary
Ripple received final approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish a national trust bank, Cointelegraph reported. The decision clears the final regulatory hurdle following conditional approval in December 2025. Ripple National Trust Bank will operate under federal supervision, manage reserves backing RLUSD, act as a collateral trustee for tokenholders and provide digital asset custody. Standard Custody & Trust Company will continue issuing RLUSD under New York regulation. National trust banks generally cannot accept deposits or issue loans and do not carry Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation coverage.
