# OpenAI agrees to provide Ukraine with AI cyber defence tools

OpenAI will provide its Daybreak cyber defence system free to Ukraine's government under a new agreement, the BBC reports. The system identifies weaknesses in digital systems and helps develop fixes, with civilian infrastructure such as hospitals and power plants among the intended beneficiaries. Ukraine will also receive access to OpenAI's GPT 5.6 Sol model.

Ukraine's national cyber incident response team recorded nearly 6,000 attacks in 2025. A researcher at the Royal United Services Institute said the tools could be useful but noted that Ukraine already has access to AI tools from other providers, including Google.
