**Implication:** Home and light industrial robot deployments become more capable as 1X ships hands that can handle complex assembly tasks.

Robotics company 1X said it has developed a new pair of artificial hands for its NEO Home Robot featuring 25 degrees of freedom in the fingers, palms and thumbs. The hands are designed to allow the $20,000 robot to skillfully complete tasks such as assembling Lego. The company said a robot must be able to interact with an environment designed for human hands to effectively help with chores. 1X released a video showing the NEO robot trying out the new dexterous hands.
