AWS has launched Ray LLM Deep Learning Containers for serving language models across multiple GPU nodes, extending its preassembled inference stack beyond single-node deployments. The containers bundle the inference engine, serving software and communication libraries behind an OpenAI-compatible endpoint.

AWS demonstrates a deployment on Amazon EKS that assigns prompt processing to one GPU node and response generation to another. Separating those phases prevents compute-heavy prompts from interrupting token generation and lets operators scale each phase independently.

The approach requires transferring the model's cached prompt state between nodes fast enough to preserve the performance benefit. The demonstrated GPU nodes occupy one Availability Zone because AWS's Elastic Fabric Adapter cannot cross zones.
