Ledger announced Atom, an Android-based hardware wallet designed to let AI agents handle financial tasks while requiring physical approval to complete transactions. Reservations are open with a refundable $100 deposit for an $849 Founder's Edition; availability is planned for summer 2027, with a subsequent price of $899.

Atom runs Ledger OS on a separate secure element chip alongside Android, providing a secure environment for transactions. Its eSIM supports data but no calls or texts. The announcement follows Ledger's confirmation that a reseller sold a signer containing an unauthorized hardware implant that captured recovery phrases, prompting sales pauses across southeast Asia and at MediaMarkt in Germany.
