Octane Biotech and Currus Biologics say they have automated manufacturing of CUR-001, Currus' experimental cell therapy for solid tumours, on Octane's Cocoon platform. The companies say the closed system reduced hands-on operator time and the viral vector required per batch, lowering manufacturing costs.

The process transfer has also been completed at Cell Therapies' Melbourne facility, where CUR-001 will be manufactured for a Phase 1 trial. The treatment combines a patient's modified T cells with a bispecific antibody designed to help activate them against tumours. FDA clearance to begin the trial was announced in September; first patient dosing is expected in early 2027.
