# Phronix preprint reports lower token use through reusable agent capabilities

Researchers introducing Phronix report that agents using learned, reusable capabilities solved recurring tasks on the first attempt in 93-95% of cases across the models evaluated. Their preprint describes a system that stores knowledge from agent executions, validates proposed solutions through tool use, and refines stored capabilities from observed outcomes.

Warm-start runs consumed 0.38-0.40 million tokens per task, three to four times less than a single baseline attempt. On the 1000 Genome Pegasus workflow, Phronix passed all 11 correctness checks for I/O performance instrumentation, compared with six for the baseline harness. The token savings apply to warm-start runs; cold-start runs cost no more than the baseline.
