Moonshot AI has made Kimi K3.1 Pro available as an open-weight model and through its API. The model accepts text and images and supports a context length of 1048576 tokens, allowing applications to process long inputs.

Its architecture contains 2.8T total parameters and activates 104B for processing. Moonshot says it replaced full-attention layers used in Kimi K3 with sparse attention to improve long-context efficiency. The API supports low, high and max reasoning effort, defaulting to max. Multi-turn applications must return complete assistant messages, including reasoning content and tool calls, and the weights are released under the Kimi K3.1 Pro License.
