The UK government will expand its use of frontier AI models to find vulnerabilities, moving the next phase into closed government systems. One pilot generated 407 findings across nine government organisations during a month of weekly hackathons, using £13,000 in tokens.

Teams combined model stages with conventional scanners or used agents that challenged earlier findings. A serious flaw in legacy GitHub Actions could let a crafted pull-request comment execute code and access build-machine secrets. The government will also explore legislation on AI incident reporting and loss of control. Its case study warns that agents generated findings faster than people could check them.
