Ubuntu released version 26.10 with full adoption of Rust-based coreutils, post-quantum-ready package signing and expanded support for disk encryption backed by a Trusted Platform Module. Enterprise authentication adds deeper Microsoft Entra ID integration, including password and multi-factor authentication.

The release includes Linux kernel 7.3, new RISC-V desktop images and optimized amd64v3 installation images. Its GNOME 51 desktop also introduces Myna, an optional speech-to-text tool that processes audio locally.

Ubuntu 26.04 users can receive an automatic upgrade offer if they have enabled notifications for all releases. Maintenance updates for version 26.10 and its accompanying flavors will run for 9 months.
