Ford announced two chargers for its forthcoming Fathom pickup that will let owners supply electricity to their homes or the grid. Ford says the Home Power Station will cost around $650, about 50% less than its first-generation bidirectional charger.

A Home Backup Power package adds a panel for supplying household circuits during outages. Ford puts its price at around $2,100, about 60% below its first-generation product. The truck will deliver over 10 kW to a home, the company said.

Both chargers will support participation in virtual power plants, which coordinate distributed batteries to supply the grid. Prices exclude installation, which can cost up to $10,000 for existing vehicle-to-everything chargers.
