A departing Anthropic researcher, Jacob Coxon, said in a post on X that AI firms were racing toward self-improving superintelligence and gambling with lives, according to The Next Web.

Senior researchers at Anthropic and OpenAI publicly backed the warning, while Pentagon chief technology officer Emil Michael rejected it at a Washington defense conference, Bloomberg reported. Michael also said the Defense Department had moved about 90 percent of its classified AI workload away from Anthropic and was on track to shift the rest by month's end, following a dispute over military-use safeguards now before the courts.
