Shopify expands shopping access to agents without partner integrations

Shopify announced Tuesday that shoppers will be able to connect any AI agent to their Shop account to browse and purchase from its catalog, The Verge reported. The change expands access beyond its previously announced Meta Muse partnership to over a billion listings, including products outside Shopify storefronts. Customers check out through Shop Pay within the agent conversation, and orders return to the Shop app. Shoppers can set rules such as spending limits or shipping preferences, but must approve each purchase.
