A Ukrainian national was sentenced to four years in prison for his role in Conti ransomware attacks carried out between 2021 and 2022, the US Department of Justice said Thursday.

Oleksii Oleksiyovych Lytvynenko, 44, was arrested by Irish police in July 2023 at US request and extradited last year. He pleaded guilty in June 2026 to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and admitted joining the Conti operation in September 2021, controlling stolen data from eight US and four overseas victims and coding a malware loader.

The FBI estimates Conti victim payouts exceeded $150 million as of January 2022.
