Odisha has approved five semiconductor projects worth more than $1.2 billion, state Electronics and IT official Vishal Kumar Dev said at TiECon Bhubaneswar 2026, CNBC-TV18 reported. Two of the 12 projects approved under the India Semiconductor Mission are being set up in the state.

Dev said Odisha was building India's first compound semiconductor fabrication unit and advanced 3D chip packaging unit, with construction beginning within six to eight months of approval. Planned investments include ASP Semicon's ₹4,620-crore memory module plant and SiCSem's ₹3,406-crore silicon carbide chip plant. The report identified shortages of workers skilled in cleanroom operations, materials science and 3D chip integration.
