Waymo said it will launch a fully driverless, all-electric ride-hailing service in Singapore in 2028, pending regulatory approval.

The Alphabet-owned company will begin testing and deployment preparation in western Singapore, starting around Labrador and Harbourfront. An initial fleet of Jaguar I-PACE vehicles is expected in coming months. In a readiness phase next year, trained specialists will drive while Waymo adapts its Waymo Driver to local road geometry and monsoon conditions.

Singapore's transport minister said Waymo's vehicles would help expand the autonomous fleet, which is expected to grow to several hundred over two years.
