Google DeepMind and Google Research said WeatherNext 3 will begin powering weather experiences in Google Search, the Gemini app, Google Maps, the Google Maps Platform Weather API and Google Earth Engine starting today. The company says the model uses live global geostationary satellite data to produce hourly forecasts at up to 5-kilometer resolution, compared with WeatherNext 2's 25-kilometer grid and six-hour increments. Google also said forecast data can be queried through BigQuery and Earth Engine or downloaded from Cloud Storage.
