Google is testing an AI contribution pilot that pays websites when their content is used in AI Overviews and other AI results, Digiday reported.

The program includes at least dozens of publishers, mainly small and mid-sized, and extends far beyond news. A Google Search Console panel displays a payout figure, and a support page says sites accumulate earnings when content contributes significantly to AI-generated responses in participating products. Publishers in the pilot called the information basic.

Google teased a partnership for websites that contribute to generative AI responses in June 2026, after a late-2025 commercial program with major news publishers; this effort is described as wider in scope.
