# Amazon expands Textract text detection to more than 40 languages

Amazon says its updated Textract model now supports more than 40 languages and automatically serves applications using its text detection and document analysis APIs. Customers do not need to change their requests or response schemas.

The update adds support for previously unsupported scripts and improves long-word recognition and handwriting detection, according to AWS. It also improves extraction from multilingual tables with merged cells, skewed layouts, rotation, or partial corruption. The model is available in every AWS Region where Textract operates.
