Cloudflare finds malicious bots moved hosts during Yandex outage

Cloudflare finds malicious bots moved hosts during Yandex outage Image: Primary
Cloudflare found that high-volume malicious automation moved to other hosting providers during the Yandex outage rather than stopping. Its analysis identified requests targeting a gambling customer that disappeared from Yandex.Cloud after the October 8 disruption and simultaneously appeared from Radist and Selectel with matching client fingerprints, request paths and headers. Russian bot requests targeting gambling accounts rose from 167.7 million to 170.1 million over the week. Vulnerability scanning and plugin probing from Yandex.Cloud declined, while most lost Yandex Search traffic came from verified search crawlers. The analysis covers requests observed on Cloudflare's network and cannot conclusively establish the impact on social media manipulation outside it.
