Robot reaching study reports 80.0% success with generated training trajectories

Researchers report in an arXiv preprint that generated training data enabled a robot to reach motherboard components with 80.0% success across three targets, compared with 58.7% using 150 teleoperated demonstrations. Their method reconstructs a workspace in three dimensions and generates wrist-camera views paired with reaching movements. Using the π0.5 model, 1,500 generated trajectories required less than 10 minutes of active human capture. An instruction-guided verifier estimates proximity to the target and stops movement before contact. The experiments demonstrate reaching before physical interaction, rather than complete electronic-waste disassembly.
