# Times Car confirms data theft affecting 6.6 million accounts

Japanese car-sharing service Times Car confirmed that an intrusion exposed information from approximately 6.6 million current and former member accounts, Bleeping Computer reported. An earlier announcement had left open whether the attackers accessed personal information.

The exposed records include names, addresses, contact details, driver's license information, identity document images and account passwords. Corporate account members are also affected. Times Car said the passwords were stored in a form that cannot be restored, but gave no further detail about that protection. Its investigation found that credit card information was unaffected, and the company plans to notify affected customers in stages.
