WhatsApp is replacing the six-digit PIN used for two-step verification with an alphanumeric password, according to a report on the company's account-security changes. WhatsApp also said that more than one billion users have created a passkey. Accounts can hold multiple passkeys, including separate ones for Android and iOS. On Android, calls from numbers outside a user's contacts will receive added context, such as foreign status or shared groups.
