Claude Pro Now Costs ₹2,000 in India as Anthropic Localises Subscription Pricing

Anthropic announced it has introduced localised pricing for its Claude AI service in India, allowing users to pay in Indian rupees instead of US dollars. The company said the move eliminates dollar billing, currency conversion charges, 18% GST on foreign transactions and international payment fees previously levied by banks and credit cards. The Claude Pro plan is now priced at 2,000 rupees per month, the Max plan at 11,999 rupees per month and the Team plan at 2,399 rupees per user per month, with all prices including GST and applicable local taxes. Previously, Max plans were billed at $100 and $200 per month. The Pro plan offers usage limits approximately five times higher than the free tier and includes access to advanced models such as Sonnet 5, Opus and Fable 5, along with Research mode, unlimited Projects, memory, web search and Claude Code. Max plans, available in 5x and 20x variants, offer expanded usage limits and additional access to Projects, Claude Code, Memory, web search and the Cowork feature. India is the second-largest market for Claude after the United States. The pricing update follows Anthropic's expansion in India, including a Bengaluru office opened in February, partnerships with Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services, and the hiring of former Microsoft India managing director Irina Ghose to lead operations.
