Qualcomm says its first chips using High Bandwidth Compute memory technology have passed laboratory testing, advancing development of its Dragonfly AI250 data centre accelerator. The technology places computing capabilities close to memory to reduce data movement and improve bandwidth and work performed per watt.

Engineers tested memory reads, writes and calculations alongside memory using random data at sizes representative of commercial products. Qualcomm has also sent an HBC data centre product design for manufacturing. AI250 sampling is expected in the first half of 2027. Comparisons with competing products remain estimates adjusted for target operating conditions; final performance will depend on the product and workload.
