The Department of Energy and Small Business Administration signed a memorandum of agreement creating the Small Business Investment Company-Energy Initiative. The agreement is designed to connect private investment funds with small businesses involved in energy or technology production. DOE's Office of Technology Commercialization will identify strategic technology priorities and provide commercialization expertise, while the SBA's Office of Investment and Innovation will administer the initiative and encourage funds focused on those priorities. Officials identified energy production, advanced materials, next-generation computing and scientific discovery as strategic areas.
