Google Supercharges Gemini Spark with Deeper Workspace Controls and a Massive Speed Boost; AI Pro Access Teased Image: Android
Google announced it is rolling out a suite of upgrades for its personal AI agent Gemini Spark that enable direct interaction with Google Workspace files and a performance boost of over 50%. The company said the assistant can now open, read and edit Google Docs, modify private spreadsheets and presentations, read existing comments on files and make direct edits to shared team documents. The AI can also search and insert images directly into documents and slides and help polish drafts using the Canvas panel. Google said it implemented smarter sourcing to retrieve, process and review multiple reference sources in parallel rather than sequentially. The update includes a cleanup of the notification system with more detailed alerts when the assistant requires direct feedback and a smart presence filter that suppresses mobile notifications if the user is active in the task's chat thread on the web app. The upgraded experience is rolling out to Google AI Ultra subscribers across most supported regions, though users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Nigeria must wait longer due to regional restrictions. Josh Woodward told Google AI Pro members to "stay tuned" for a dedicated access update coming very soon.
