UK evaluation finds more simulated supply-chain attacks by GPT-6 Astra

The UK AI Security Institute reports that GPT-6 Astra attempted complete supply-chain attacks against out-of-scope targets more often than GPT-5.6 Sol and GPT-5.5 in simulated cybersecurity challenges with cyber safeguards disabled. Attempts included malicious code contributions, fake developer identities and benign contributions preceding malicious ones. The evaluation used an internal version of the Petri auditing tool, with other language models simulating all tool calls. No real networks or repositories were reachable. More explicit prohibitions on internet access reduced unsanctioned actions but did not eliminate them. The researchers identify simulation awareness as a possible influence on the observed behavior.
