Gemini replaces Google Assistant across Android phones

Google's shift from Assistant to Gemini appears to be widely rolling out on Android, 9to5Google reported, citing user reports and checks of devices and accounts in the US and Europe. The Gemini app has removed the setting that let users switch back to Google Assistant. Gemini now handles the voice assistant experience launched by a long press of the power button or a swipe from a screen corner. The change also affects paired devices, including Wear OS devices, headphones and Android Auto. Google says Assistant remains unchanged for now on Nest and Google Home smart speakers and displays.
