Scientists at Aalto University and an international team have combined machine learning with quantum physics to discover two new superconductors and develop a faster method to search for additional candidates. The approach narrows an almost limitless number of possible material combinations to identify the most promising ones for superconductivity, which conduct electricity with zero resistance. The work is part of the SuperC consortium coordinated by Aalto. According to Törmä, the team's strategy combines quantum geometry with machine learning to dramatically narrow the search.
