Meta reached a $17 billion settlement with U.S. attorneys general that requires changes to teen use of Facebook and Instagram, according to Mashable. The company said the protections will roll out over the next six months. They include a two-hour cumulative limit across the apps, overnight access blocks, default school-hour breaks, an option for a non-algorithmic default feed and controls for autoplay. The settlement also requires an independent auditor to report annually on compliance for five years.
