Los Angeles activates approximately 20 speed cameras Image: Primary
Los Angeles activated approximately 20 speed cameras Monday at dangerous intersections, beginning a 60-day warning period before issuing fines, Mashable reported. Drivers exceeding the limit by at least 11 miles per hour will initially receive written warnings by mail. After that period, fines will range from $50 to $500, depending on speed. The Los Angeles Department of Transportation plans to activate 125 cameras by year-end, with locations including intersections with high injury and death rates, areas near schools, and sites known for street racing.
