Waymo announced its autonomous vehicle fleet has driven more than 170 million miles and recorded 92% fewer serious-injury crashes compared to human drivers, based on data analyzed by Swiss Re.

The milestone covers rides across San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Austin. Waymo released the safety data as it seeks to expand into new cities and counter regulatory skepticism.

The company currently operates the largest commercial robotaxi service in the United States.
