Apple's market capitalization briefly surpassed $5 trillion for the first time on Tuesday, making it only the second company ever to reach that milestone after Nvidia, Reuters reported.

Shares were last up 0.72% at $339.33, for a market value of about $4.98 trillion. At a session high of $342.89, the value stood at $5.036 trillion. Apple became the world's most valuable company earlier this month, overtaking Nvidia, which had led since June 2025 and was the first firm to breach $5 trillion. Nvidia shares were last up 0.53% at $197.63, valuing it at $4.78 trillion.

Reuters said Apple has benefited from strong product demand and from skipping the heavy AI infrastructure spending race that is weighing on cash flows at other Big Tech rivals. The iPhone maker has relied on Google's AI technology for services such as a revamped Siri. Apple's stock has gained about 25% so far this year.

On Tuesday the company launched a U.S. device leasing program through Klarna, with monthly payments starting at $17.99 for an iPhone, $11.99 for an Apple Watch or iPad, and $24.99 for a Mac. Apple is set to report third-quarter earnings after the market close on Thursday, with analysts expecting more than a 15% jump in quarterly revenue from a year earlier.
