Athenahealth has launched AthenaPatient MCP, a server that lets Claude retrieve patient health records and answer questions about them, ZDNET reports. Access is limited to Claude Pro and Max subscribers, whose plans cost $20 and $100 per month, respectively.

Patients must authenticate with their Athenahealth credentials. Athenahealth says they can select which health information Claude accesses and revoke access at any time, and that the data cannot be used to train Anthropic models. Authorized records can include lab results, medications, allergies and care plans.

Athenahealth says the service does not provide medical advice or replace a clinician's professional judgment.
