Nvidia released Isaac ROS 5.0, a free, open-source set of robotics software packages that adds tools for AI agents to help developers set up and adapt robot applications. The release supports ROS Lyrical and Ubuntu 24.04 and includes a standard interface intended to help robotics software use accelerators such as GPUs across different hardware.

New development tools can help adapt a stereo vision model to a robot's cameras and assemble a pick-and-place workflow from object detection and position estimates. Nvidia says the software supports devices from Jetson Orin Nano to Jetson Thor, placing its on-robot deployment path within the company's computing platform.
