# AWS raises Lambda durable workflow limits to 30,000 operations

AWS has raised Lambda durable functions' limit from 3,000 to 30,000 operations per execution and increased maximum checkpoint payloads from 256 KB to 1 MB. The changes apply in every AWS Region where the service is available.

The higher limits give workflows more room for repeated steps, polling and rollback paths. Larger checkpoints can store a full event from asynchronous Lambda invocations, Amazon SQS or Amazon EventBridge in one operation, AWS says.

Every step attempt, condition poll and parallel or map branch counts toward the operation limit. For state larger than 1 MB, the JavaScript and Python SDKs can write data to an Amazon EFS or Amazon S3 Files mount and checkpoint a pointer.
