Anthropic Moves Claude Fable 5 to Pay-as-You-Go Pricing From July 20
Image: Primary Anthropic will move its Claude Fable 5 model to pay-as-you-go pricing starting July 20. Anthropic said, "Beginning July 20, Fable 5 usage will require pay-as-you-go billing. Customers can enable usage credits in Claude settings." The change ends a period that began July 1 in which Pro, Max, Team and premium Enterprise subscribers could use Fable 5 at up to 50% of normal weekly limits at no extra cost. That access ends at 11:59 p.m. Pacific on July 19. After that, Fable 5 will not run unless users enable usage-based billing through Claude web settings. Anthropic said the temporary arrangement was intended to "give customers a chance to experience Fable 5 while we continue expanding capacity." The rest of Claude remains unchanged, with Opus 4.8, Sonnet 5 and Haiku available under existing subscription limits. Anthropic has not said when Fable 5 will return to standard subscriptions.
