Cloudflare applies to become a certificate authority

Cloudflare says it is applying to become a certificate authority and building one for the open web with post-quantum security. Its proposed approach combines an established root, an emphasis on ACME and Merkle Tree Certificates. The application comes twelve years after Cloudflare launched Universal SSL.
